On January 17th, short drama actress Xing Yun complained in her post that a film crew kept having a child stand in the downpour created by a water truck while shooting a night rain scene.
According to media reports, the baby actor was paid only 800 yuan for this scene, and some parents agreed to such shooting scenes due to financial pressure.
According to media reports, this is not the only case. In July 2025, Xixi, a child star in short dramas, was exposed to rain while filming her firstscene. The film crew failed to provide hot water and heating supplies, which sparked widespread discussions about the rights and interests of child actors. This incident reflects the deep-seated conflicts behind the "rampant expansion" of the short drama industry driven by capital.
To chase hot topics and cut costs, the extreme model of "filming 100 episodes within 7 days" prevails across the industry, and child actors’ basic rights such as the right to rest and health are the first to be sacrificed.
